What becomes very clear in this book is that although India's economy has really taken off and many of citizens are living much better lives, a lot of the old problems still exists, and abject poverty is still a way of life for vast amount of the population. Nadan Nilekani spends most of the book discussing the ways in which hopefully, these problems can finally be solved. What I found lacking in these discussions was the voice of the common man. Nilekani talked with experts in many fields and shared these ideas with the readers. But the voice of the people actually suffering the maladies of India was virtually absent, and in my opinion, this point of view was sorely missed and the book suffered as a consequence.… (altro)

Absolutely brilliant, extremely well-researched and visionary! Enlightened me of the intricacy of Indian policymaking in light of its history.
I would recommend it to everyone, especially the Indian youth.

A guidebook to how India is solving it's serious development issues through the use of digital identification to revolutionise how the country operates to eliminate corruption and waste, reach the people that are supposed to benefit while saving vast sums of money. Every country should be following their example.

Finally managed to finish this book. All I can say is two words Unputdownable and FANTASTIC. The amount of detail presented is mind boggling, enough detail to serve as a text book on Indian commerce, economics, anthropology. The author has very grand designs for the betterment of the country and I wish him all the best in that mammoth effort. A definite must read.

I only wish that he had devoted a final chapter to some finite steps on how to overcome and mitigate a lot of the issues he has explained in very great detail in the previous ones. Imagining India part deux?… (altro)
