I enjoyed this romance with a little bit of mystic about it. this was way back in a TBR box so it's a bit older. This is centered around an old american indian site. This is also not for the under 18 readers, this does contain a lot of sexual content. I've given this a 4* rating. It sometimes feels like this author tried to get a little too much into it. A very interesting story. Now on to my next.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) This is a second chance romance. Tala and Hunter were a couple years ago and she breaks up with him and leaves her hometown because she wanted to do better with her life than what she was used to. Now she is a nurse and returns home to help out but really doesn't plan on staying. While at the farm that she grew up in she hears guns shots and sees elk fleeing, she takes pictures of what she sees and goes to the rangers office to inform them because poaching is illegal. While there she runs into her ex fiance Hunter and they decide to work together to find what is going on. Hunter annoyed he was back and forth with Tala, he claimed she needed to grow up and personally I thought it was him. So while they are working together they end up rekindling their love.… (altro)

This was hard to get through. The dialogue was stilted and Amber's internal musings were annoying. I didn't care about anything that happened.

This took me months to read, but I pushed on, wanting to see how the history was portrayed. The writing was fairly formal, & the "love interest" wasn't enough to entertain. Well, probably not meant to entertain, but to demonstrate how enemies can come to respect each other's beliefs--in contrast to the Spaniards who only wanted to impose their beliefs & call anything else devil worship. The setting is Hopi lands at Oraibi prior to the 1680 Pueblo Indian Revolt and after the 1599 butchering at Acoma Pueblo. A Hispanic commander arrives with maybe 20 soldiers at Oraibi to seek out treasures for the crown, prove his own worth, & support a Franciscan in his mission to build a church and make converts. The Hopi are basically forced to spend time working on the church to the neglect of their crops & ceremonies.… (altro)
