With well over a hundred separate monographs and over fifty pen-and-ink illustrations this book tells you tells you all (or possibly more) than you want to know about katoptronolagnia, nipiomimetophilia and many other beastly practises you never knew existed.

Obviously well researched (by the indefatigable and self-sacrificing Rev. E. St J. Croom), and containing illustrative anecdotes along with scientific explanation, one can use this volume as a textbook, an instruction manual, or a kind of historical treasure-hunt and game of Hangman, as the names of all persons mentioned (even that of the well-known playwright W------ S----------) have been anonymised by the substitution of dashes for all letters but the initials.… (altro)

'The Brat and the Master' concerns a young man, recently become very rich, who sees his youthful memories of an alfresco sexual encounter develop into a dominant/submissive (M/F) relationship with the brattish young woman concerned. He finds that his tastes for spanking are well matched, and he quickly finds himself part of 'the scene', along with a rival male and a number of attractive partners. I didn't feel the plot was as gripping or as well developed as Aishling Morgan's numerous earlier novels in the erotic chastisement genre, but the book certainly contains a wealth of situations describing erotic incidents within it.… (altro)

One of Morgan's finest parodies, this blends elements of The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Wolfman to ribald effect, and features a rather transparently disguised Holmes. Spankings and rogerings aplenty, described with the usual gusto. Morgan knows the genre fiction he is parodying inside out, and his affection for it shines through as ever.

Morgan introduces his Nich Mordaunt character here, a kind of new age Doctor Strange who returned in a whole series of occult-themed erotic adventures: Satan's Slut; Natural Desire, Strange Design; Cruel Shadow and Tempting the Goddess. This first entry is a tale of pagan survivals and the elemental forces of the sea, set in a typical British holiday resort. A major sub-plot revolves around attempts to shut down a free festival, which recalls the savage repression of rave and festival culture during the nineties, and there's no question that Morgan and Mordaunt's sympathies lie with the orgiastic revelers.

Deep Blue has attracted some notoriety as the first sustained piece of Lovecraftian erotica. While hot tentacular action is certainly on the menu, the pagan elements and the setting evoked Arthur Machen rather more than Lovecraft for me, though Morgan peoples his environment with bawdy types drawn from classic British erotica rather than Machen's troubled aesthetes. Seaside postcard confessions of sexy holiday fun were always a staple of the more cheap and cheerful British porn mags, and that mood is definitely present here, while the nastier characters representing the forces of Laura Norder seem drawn from the shrink-wrapped publications devoted to the great British passion for spanking.

Morgan pulls off the difficult task of blending parody with genuine thrills of the supernatural and erotic variety, in such a way that none of these elements undermine each other. Superbly done, one of Morgan's best, and left me wanting to track down the other entries in the Mordaunt series.
