If you're looking for a book to explain the history of The Star Spangled Banner, this is definitely a great resource. I really enjoyed this book because it provided me with the patriotic song and a detailed history of how it originated. This informational text also provides multiple citations for other resources about the National Anthem.This text also provides teachers with Common Core lessons that correlate to the standards. In my opinion this is a good book for young readers. The language is clear and the words are kid friendly. Some of the illustrations are real pictures which is pretty interesting for kids to get really engaged into. And the other pictures are cartoon like illustrations. Like they show Uncle Sam both as a cartoon and someone actually dressed up like him at a parade. It alternates between real and nonreal pictures. It fits the appropriate age group because they could also easily get bored of seeing the real photos. The writing is organized because it gives enough information without making it confusing for the reader. It was interesting because it gave dates of main events that happened.… (altro)
