In my opinion this is a great story about traditions of African families. In the story, a young girl learns about a traditional adinkra cloth from Ghana. I enjoyed reading about how the different colors and symbols relate to feelings. For example, "blue is a sign of love, but red is worn only for sad times." The main idea of the story is that your family always has valuable knowledge to share with you about your family' culture and traditions. In this story, the young girl takes great interest in the adinkra cloth and learns all about it from her Aunt.… (altro)

In my opinion this is a great book. This book tells the story of a young girl names Amber who is rising her aunt who she finds to be very interesting and fun. The aunt collects a lot of different African American cultural objects. Each item has a story and the item that her aunt tells her about in this story is the one of the talking cloth. She explains to Amber what all the symbols and markings mean. This book is great for teaching children of other cultures, this one being that of African American culture. I liked how the author takes the reader inside the character's thoughts at the end when she is talking about wearing the talking cloth, like when Amber says, "I smile, thinking of it this cloth means joy. I am an Ashanti princess now, and here is all my family and everyone who ever worn an adinkra... gathered around me."… (altro)
