Faren Miller (1950–2022)

I did not care for this novel at all. The writing was poetic and descriptive, but the characters and plot failed to generate any sort of interest. I found myself skimming along from word to word letting the images bloom in my imagination without ever taking hold.

A tired old culture at the edge of a desert, steeped in magic. Especially old magic. Magic best left buried. This is a well written gem from an author who never resurfaced. Truly a loss.
