The first sentence makes clear that this is not your father's Winnie the Pooh:
"The hundred-acre wood was too fucking loud."

Despite his honey hangover, Pooh lets Piglet drag him to the site of an apparent suicide by one of the Wood's most beloved residents. But being the keen -- though world-weary -- detective that he is, Pooh knows it is murder and makes his way through the cast of suspects to an ending that echoes Chinatown.

This mash-up parody of Pooh and noir fiction actually works for me, silly as it is. A grim and gritty thumbs up.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across.
