This friendly book describes life in the Buckeye State during the War of the Rebellion through brief modules which range in length from one sentence to a couple of paragraphs. It avoids the usual pitfalls of Civil War state histories, viz., unit histories and battle narratives completely, save for some short accounts of the state's main military action, Jno. Hunt Morgan's cavalry raids into the state. Liberally illustrated, it's a very pleasant two-night read.

While a couple of the stories are boring and bogged down with too much detail, most are very enlightening and interesting. Put on your traveling shoes, baby, and let's tour Ohio!
