This is not an academic tome but rather a self-help book for educators. It's okay, and it includes space for reflection and some good ideas, but it is primarily written as if you've gone to see a motivational speaker whose job is to pretend to know things about classroom education.
New teachers may find some useful advice here, but veteran teachers are going to roll their eyes at the numerous platitudes and generic strategies presented.

If you heard of Genius Hour and want to know what it is, this is your book. It not only explains what Genius is, but also provides a variety of resources. In this book, you will find many very good websites, great ideas, and helpful forms. This book is a great resource for any classroom that does research. I highly recommend it for any teacher's library.

So you've heard of Genius Hour and want to implement it in your classroom, right? Are you not sure where to start? Does the management of it all overwhelm you? Well Andi McNair has written the ultimate Genius Hour Implementation Guide with "Genius Hour in the Classroom: Taking Passion Projects to the Next Level." In this book (one of several Genius Hour books that she's written), McNair has created, shared, and explained how to use dozens of reproducibles, assessment rubrics, gamification ideas, and more! Her "Messy Middle" section helps teachers understand how some students are feeling as they dig deeper into their projects. And the FAQ section answers questions that teachers are always asking about Genius Hour like "Do we grade their projects?" What about kids who don't want to participate?" and "Can students quit a project in the middle?" I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for support with managing Genius Hour or taking their Genius Hour to the next level. (I was provided a copy of this book for free through LibraryThing, but it did not influence my rating or my review.)… (altro)

This book is incredibly useful for somone running a genius hour in their classroom. There are helpful graphic organizers and management charts. There are ideas for products and tips for success. This will make genius hour go more smoothly in any classroom! There are more things in here than one teacher would need and so you'll have choices about what will work best in your classroom.
