Chef Alex needs a job, any job. Employment agent Emily may have thought it'd be funny to send Alex to her ex-husband's family's dude ranch, which has not employed a woman cook for over a hundred years, to be the cook on a cattle drive. Manager Colt is impressed by Alex's chutzpah, and her looks, so he hires her on something like a dare bet basis. It's a romantic comedy, so you know how this must end, amidst wisecracks, comic situations, a hint of melodrama, and some consideration of teal issues some women still face in the workplace. The banter between the characters really carried the story for me. I loved the concept and enjoyed all of the characters we got to meet. I thought the story was fun, and it managed to have a lot of chemistry between the characters while still remaining clean.

Some of the scenes didn't quite flow smoothly for me, but it wasn't anything that took away from the book. I also think some of the dialogue felt the same way. It wasn't enough that I hated the book, but some people might struggle with that. It also developed quickly, we didn't get to see their romance slowly unfold. None of that turned me away from the author, I hope to read more from them.
