This book seems to me to be a little paradoxical. On the one hand it is a very technical book on literary analysis, with uncommon terms used widely. On the other hand, there are lots of pictures, most of which explain these terms very well. This dissonance may just be caused by the rarity of this approach in most text books written at this level, but once you get over this, and decide not to be scared of the unusual words, then it works well. The book covers the major aspects of literary analysis, and their application to biblical texts thoroughly, explaining their derivations and providing worked examples. Throughout the book there are side boxes containing definitions of key terms, opportunities to check your understanding and quotations from seminal works in the area. Well worth a read.… (altro)
