Albertus Magnus, or Albert the Great, was a Dominican scholar who was born in Lauingen, near Ulm, Germany, in 1206. He is noted as the teacher of Thomas Aquinas. He took roughly the same view of Aristotelian philosophy as his student. His interests, however, extended in other directions. His mostra altro reputation is based less on his philosophy than on his work as a naturalist and an encyclopedic scholar determined to review the whole realm of learning on whatever topic he undertakes. Dieses Buch setzt sich mit Aristoteles Werk über die Seele auseinander. Es scheint zu Beginn, dass er mit seiner Theorie übereinstimmt, aber wiederlegt ihn letztendlich am Ende. Dieses Buch ist nichts für Anfänger der Philosophie. Man muss es ausreichend studieren, um es zu verstehen, aber am Ende lohnt es sich dann doch.

PRÓLOGO
AIberto Magno fue una de las figuras decisivas del
pensamiento medieval. Nació en Lavingen, Suabia, en
1193 según unos, o en 1206 según otros. El nuevo
vástago de la familia de los condes de Bollstät se trasladó muy
pronto a Padua, donde cursó sus estudios de "artes liberales"
medicina, ciencias de la naturaleza y filosofía aristotélica. Más
tarde, se entregó al estudio de la teología en la Universidad de
Bolonia y, posiblemente influenciado por Jordán el Sajón,
tomó los hábitos de dominico. Poco después, desarrolló su
actividad docente en diversas escuelas de la orden: Colonia,
Friburgo, Estrasburgo, Hildesheim y Ratisbona. El año 1245
tuvo una significativa trascendencia en su vida, pues consiguió
el grado de maestro en teología en la Universidad de
París y conoció al que sería su fiel discípulo, Santo Tomás. En
esa ciudad, sus clases magistrales alcanzaron tal prestigio que
no había lugar capaz de albergar al numeroso público que
acudía a escucharle; muchos tenían que conformarse con oír al
maestro desde la calle. Apenas fundada la Universidad de
Colonia, en 1248, trasladó allí su actividad docente, donde
por supuesto, le siguió su incondicional alumno. Poco antes...… (altro)
