Recensioni

Duncan Macmillan, lecturer and writer on Scottish and European art and organiser of many art exhibitions, provides an extensive survey of Scottish Art. As he takes us chronologically from 1460 to 1990 he discusses the ever changing art and puts into context by considering cultural developments in other areas along with the history of Scotland. The book includes an extensive bibliography.

It is illustrated throughout in colour and black and white, in total 350 illustrations of which the overwhelming majority are in colour. The quality of printing is excellent in both the colour and monochrome illustrations; they vary in size with a good number half page and a few full page images.

This is a substantial volume, an in depth study, and a beautifully produced book
