Public Domain Pooh!

Pooh hears a noise early one morning and discovers a bunch of trees in the Hundred-Acre Wood (which this author refuses to capitalize) have been knocked over.

The story quickly falls into Pooh cliches, having our bear walk around and visit his friends one by one, asking them for honey, seeing if they know what's going on with the trees, and getting whipped up into a paranoid tizzy. The big reveal -- that an elderly Christopher Robin has returned after a long absence -- is one that so many of these public domain stories keep repeating that it is already another hoary old cliche.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:
