“Gabby Goodie's Mouth Music” by Eve London is a short erotic story featuring Gabby Goodie and her phenomenal oral skills. Having spent the past year or so in unproductive romances or one-night stands, Gabby concludes that her “skills” are more in demand that she is. When New Year arrives she decides to change her lifestyle and give up men. Can she keep up her resolution or will she revert to her previous behaviour? This is a nicely written wee story that begins with a strange “heroine” who seems to be demanding unwarranted sympathy for her lifestyle choices. As the story progresses, however, she becomes a much more human character and a plot (of sorts) begins to emerge. There are some nice touches, but the “plot” moves along at such a pace that there is little time to build up any real stylistic or narrative flourishes. At best a mildly diverting and occasionally amusing tale. The book also has a number of extracts from other Secret Narratives tales including “Sex in Store” by Grace King; Professor Hardy’s Hidden Fantasy” by Ann Russell and “Her Sugar Daddy” by Elizabeth Woodham.… (altro)
