I adore this book. It has so many elements that I love: a mystery, a love(ish) story, interesting characters, and great writing. I think I can understand why people don't like this or tend to be lukewarm about it, but it was exactly what I was hoping it would be when I picked it up. Especially since I am a fan of queer love stories (though this a contentious topic, I fully agree that it's a queer romance), epistolary novels, and AI main characters. This book is definitely not for everyone, but it was absolutely for me.… (altro)

When I started reading the excerpt, I was first put off by the second person narration. But then I read the opening scene, which describes an intern in a magic corporation taking a mandatory training on ethics. That was sarcastic and intriguing enough that I decided it might be worth buying.

Woman, was it worth it.

I dont want to spoil the story here but I will say that the world building is excellent, because it's our world. This is 21st century corporate America, with magic. So of course magic is a business, with endless bureaucracy and harassed interns left to handle the mess as best they can. And the story is funny and moving, and it made me smile and laugh.
