Another excellent book from Lisanti covering the girls of the beach, horror, biker, and Elvis movies, many of whom disappeared some time after. Same format as before, profiles of a couple pages with a photo of numerous actresses, some of them expanded with direct quotes and observations taken from interviews. From Carol (Carson's Matinee Girl) Wayne and Barbara (Goldier Hawn replacement on Laugh-In) Rhodes to Deanna (Land of the Giants) Lund and Jeanine (Hee Haw, Petticoat Junction) Riley. A great collection of profiles of female stars on 1960's TV, science fiction, Elvis, and beach movies. There are 20 actresses whose profile is buttressed with interviews. Lots of great background on the making of these dismissed, but money-making low-budgeters. These include Joan O'Brien, Diane McBain, Joan Staley, Jill Haworth, Pamela Tiffin, Francine (The Doll Squad) York, Joy Harmon, Eileen O'Neill, Julie Parrish, Jean Hale, Irene Tsu, Chris (Vietnam Armed Forces deejay) Noel, Lana (Diamonds Are Forever) Wood, Celeste Yarnell, Judy Pace, Salli Sachse, Deanna (Land of the Giants) Lund, Karen Jensen, Linda (Nova on Planet of the Apes) Harrison, Tisha Stirling, and an additional group of short profiles not supported by interviews (some of these ladies just disappeared).… (altro)

Wonderful collection of narratives, based on interviews for the most part) with drive-in movie queens, veterans of beach, Elvis, horror, and biker movies. Makes you want to sit down and watch them again, now knowing a little background on the young stars and supporting castmembers. From high-visibility ladies like F-Troop's Melody (Wrangler Jane) Patterson, Sue Ann Langdon, and AIP's Quinn O'Hara, to those who played Didi's best friend in the beach movies, a nice look with some behind-the-scenes details on those money-making low-budgeters, the accounts often meshing with each other when two or more co-stars of a particular title are separately profiled. There is also a large end-of-book section that looks at other stars who often were unavailable for interview (some of whom had just dropped out and disappeared in the 1970s), but with some welcome background. This latter bunch includes Angelique (Star Trek) Pettyjohn, Regina Carrol, AIP's Susan Hart, The Munster's {at Priest, actress and hit--making singer and actress Jackie DeShannon, Petticoat Junction's Meredith MacRae, Juliet Prowse, and others.
