I travelled through Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Borneo waaay back in 1998 with this trusty Rough Guide as my companion. The highlight was Borneo and this guide helped me get around the world's third biggest island without too many difficulties (an orang-utan stole my water bottle but I can't blame the guide book for that).

My copy is very water damaged and its front cover is missing; I got caught in a huge storm while literally standing on the equator, just outside Pontianak, Kalimantan. I took that as amen of some kind and got the hell out of Indonesia, destination Sabah.… (altro)
