*I won a copy of this book via Goodreads Giveaways*

Unfortunately, this was another DNF. Stories about fairies aren't usually my thing, but I thought I'd give something new a try. The subject matter has nothing to do with why I didn't finish this, but the writing definitely does. It's choppy, stilted, and there are too many unneccesary adverbs, which slow down the writing even more. The story also doesn't have much of a hook to it.

I got this free from the goodreads giveaway page.

I had a hard time getting into this book, it is very much a set up for books to follow and as such it moved incredibly slowly. The world building was okay but slightly confusing at times and although there are a wealth of details, sometimes maybe too many details, about all the many & varied characters I never really cared about any of them, not even Fergus. Perhaps it was too much set up and too little story for me to get involved.
When it was finally revealed how and why Flynn was hung I missed it completely and had to go back to read it again because it felt glossed over. What, to me, should have been the ultimate point of the book, given the title, was treated almost as an aside.
I do think the world has potential and hopefully the next book will improve upon the emotional development of the characters.

I really wanted to like this book given that it is self-published and I was excited to have the opportunity to help out a new author. In the end however there was just something lacking for me.
