Casey and April feature in their own mini series when they take a road trip to investigate a mysterious scroll the gang found. I adore Casey and April in the show, so when this popped up on my Kindle Unlimited subscription I thought why not? The artwork is gorgeous, the colours are inviting and it features two of my favourites. Unfortunately the story doesn't seem to be accessible if you haven't read any of the other comics. And while I've read some, I haven't read enough to follow what was going on.

The first issue opened the mini series strongly but although the second issue built upon the plot, it failed to take it anywhere that made sense to me and then it just got weird. Things happened that hadn't happened. It was a trap. There was a brother and a sister and one liked them and one didn't? I just didn't get it. And I loved Casey picking up the rock shaped like a heart but that didn't go anywhere either - he just throws it away in a fit of anger. Although there's a resolution of sorts to their relationship problems - a commitment to just wanting the other to be safe and that, it still felt like they were on rocky ground by the end. I wanted him to have given her the heart - tell her he's not good with words but he cares or something to that affect. The design was solid and I loved the symbol for their issue - the crossed hockey sticks with a heart of Casey's mask. The lettering was clear and added to the scenes. It was an interesting premise but the execution fell a bit short. 2.5 stars, rounded to 3 stars.

It's a fine continuation of Korra's adventures, though it frustratingly seems to take a couple steps back as it takes a couple steps forward.

This was a neat graphic novel that gave an interesting look into the world of the Avatar series. I liked that they're continuing the story after Korra's series ended, and the LGBTQ representation was great to see!

I'll be honest, writing this review months after I actually read the book leaves me trying to remember the actual plot. There's not a lot of specific details I remember, but I would absolutely recommend it for people that enjoyed Legend of Korra.
