Karen Kingsbury was born in Fairfax, Virginia on June 8, 1963. She received a B.A. in journalism from California State University, Northridge in 1986. After graduation, she became a full-time reporter for the Los Angeles Times. Her first book, Missy's Murder, was published in 1992. She wrote three mostra altro more true crime novels and four collections of answered prayers and miracle stories before transitioning to inspirational fiction in 1998. Her first inspirational fiction novel was Where Yesterday Lives. Popular series she has penned include the Redemption, Firstborn, Sunrise, and Angels Walking series, and she has also written the nonfiction Miracle Books collection, gift books, and children's books. She has won several Retailer's Choice Awards, plus 2005 and 2007 Gold Medallions for Oceans Apart and Ever After, respectively. Her other books include Longing, Coming Home - The Baxter Family: A Story of Undying Hope, Fiteen Minutes, The Family of Jesus, The Friends of Jesus, In This Moment, and To The Moon and Back. Christian romance about 2 couples. The older married couple own a bookstore, called The Bridge. When it was destroyed in a flood, the owner gives up all hope. The younger couple met there to study together in college, until they drift apart and away from each other. When the bookstore owner is in an accident, the town alerts all frequent patrons of the bookstore to lend a hand, which lead the young couple back together again.
Kingsbury’s writing came off very heavy-handed at times and I don’t believe for a minute that everyone thinks it’s illegal to read a Bible at school. (Every heard of National Bring Your Bible to School Day?)
Also, content took quite a turn about 3/4 the way through.

It is almost Christmas time again! To celebrate, I am reviewing a book that takes place during the Christmas season. The story is set in the present with glimpses of the past (seven years prior) scattered throughout the book. The perspective frequently changes between Ryan, Molly, and Charlie.
As a bookworm, I greatly appreciate that the story is centered around a small, local bookstore. I thought the plot was great, except that it was very predictable with the many misunderstandings between the characters.
I always read this book at Christmastime and would recommend for others to as well. This short read, almost novella-like book, is perfect for a cold, December evening.… (altro)
