What ever happened to Wendy, John, and Michael after they returned from their Neverland adventure? Apparently life has been hard for the trio in the five years since Peter Pan came into their lives. They've been moved to America to seek the best doctors for Wendy (who everyone assumes is suffering from delusions and bringing Michael down with her). John has convinced himself his sister is crazy too. But then Peter shows up, and he's aged! For the last five years he's been living on Earth, stuck here by a promise. At the same time Peter finds the Darlings, Hook and his ship are awakened and sailing to Earth in search of... something. That something turns out to be Wendy and Hook takes custody of the 3 siblings. They return to Neverland and Wendy starts feeling more and more sympathetic towards Hook. This is all leading up to a Pan/Hook showdown at Skullrock...

For a book that I randomly found on sale at B&N.com, I must say it exceeded any expectations I had for it. The writing style was great! It drew me in really quickly. The weird thing is that not THAT much actually happens in the book, but it was just fun to read. It was a nice break for me from the YA Contemporary I've been reading lately. (This is the kind of fantasy that I can get into. Not all the world is ending and zombies/diseased people/corrupt new societies are after me kind of stuff.... too depressing!)

The thing with Wendy and Hook kind of weirded me out a little bit. I mean I always pictured Hook as older and Wendy was 17 in this book... not to mention it's HOOK for crying out loud, sworn enemy! But just because the book didn't go in the direction I wanted it to, it didn't ruin the story for me. Also I was sort of sad that Neverland had to die and was made to seem like a selfish place. In my mind Neverland is the place you go to in your dreams, not a kidnapper. But even with that it still was a pretty great ending. I think it was just great for an indie publishing author and I will definitely be reading the sequel!!

Non è male, l’ho letto anche con un certo piacere ma non mi ha entusiasmato e, in più, mi ha lasciato diversi interrogativi che non hanno trovato nel libro alcuna logica spiegazione o giustificazione.
Per cominciare si parte con un assunto del tutto maschilista dove la figura femminile riveste unicamente il ruolo di oggetto ad uso e consumo del maschio, a seguire se si analizzano minimamente le diverse figure (padrone, arcangeli, cherubine, ecc.) non si può non notare che non sono altro che l’apoteosi di tutte le debolezze e bassezze umane, e che tutti i personaggi sono talmente preda delle loro personali passioni tanto da brillare per ingenuità e stupidità.
Per di più ho trovato del tutto incoerente e incomprensibile la trasformazione da arcangelo a vampiro, né riesco a trovare una spiegazione minimamente logica per cui gli arcangeli debbano metterci dei millenni per trovare le loro cherubine che, miracolosamente, appaiono poi una dietro l’altra. Ma dove sono state per tutto questo tempo? Cosa è successo di loro da quando sono state mandate sulla terra nella notte dei tempi? La loro vita come si è svolta fino a quel momento? E come succede che poi risultino essere state generate da umani?
Ci sono troppe cose che non si giustificano in alcun modo e anche se la storia non è male e riesce ad essere avvincente, le troppe domande senza risposta contribuiscono a ridurre la mia valutazione a non più di tre stelle e mezzo.… (altro)
