Gayle Kennedy

Graphic novel created as part of the Oxford Literacy Project to promote literacy and an understanding of the law for indigenous students. In this story, J creates a poster that wins first prize in an art competition. Three weeks later he stumbles across a man selling t-shirts with his design on them. When the man refuses to stop selling and give J any compensation, J and his "Pop" consult a copyright lawyer about his rights and threaten to take the man to court. In the end, J wins and has his designs legitimately put on t-shirts with appropriate payment.
Nice story, great illustrations but the language in the book was a problem for me - there are too many grammatical errors for me to recommend this to students e.g. page 27 "he might of years ago", instead of the correct "might have". There are also a lot of slang words (not so much indigenous) that left me pondering their meaning.… (altro)
