Antiracism is a transformative concept that reorients and reenergizes the conversation about racism—and, even more fundamentally, points us toward liberating new ways of thinking about ourselves and each other. At its core, racism is a powerful system that creates false hierarchies of human value; its warped logic extends beyond race, from the way we regard people of different ethnicities or skin colors to the way we treat people of different sexes, gender identities, and body types. Racism intersects with class and culture and geography and even changes the way we see and value ourselves. While this book is EXCELLENT, it took me a long time to get through it because it is very dense with information. I'd listen for a while and then I'd have to listen to something else as like a "palate cleanser" and let my subconscious parse out the information and absorb it. Then I'd go back for a while and then I'd have to have a break. Consequently, 19 hours of listening took me almost 6 months!

While very dense, the information is illuminating. I learned so much from this book. A lot of history of racism in general and in specifics. We're literally trying to undo over 400 years of racist beliefs. Obviously, that's not going to take just a day to get rid of.

If you read it or listen to it and find yourself spacing out with it, put it down for a bit! Read something else and come back. The information is worth coming back for. Just as it's worth taking breaks from it in order to process what you've been reading/listening.
