I have not read the first book in this series, but you don't have to as this book can be read as a standalone novel. I really enjoyed this charming small-town romance. I wanted to "hate" Garrett for what he did to Ansley so many years ago, but I could not. Garrett turned out to be a bit misunderstood and to have a good heart; therefore, I felt for him.

Where Ansley is concerned, I instantly liked her a lot. In fact, I could picture myself as Ansley. She and I shared the same traits and mannerisms. So it was easy to warm up to Ansley. Where the romance and sparks between Ansley and Garrett are concerned, there was sparks but they did not have an "instalove" connection. I liked this based on their past history. Thus, when these two did finally become intimate it felt real. I look forward to continuing this series.… (altro)

DNF @ 36% this is just so not for me.
Part of this is my bad. I picked this up without reading anything else in this series so I didn't know any of the characters, which I'm wasn't helpful. However, after reading this I most certainly will not be reading any more. I did not enjoy the characters at all. The gender roles in this book are sooo traditional and I hate that. Women are referred to as "female" which is something I cannot stand, there was a good bit of talk about how men and women are just so different and women need to be comforted, the men seemed to not want women doing any physical labor, people use the term "girl" in a negative way, and there's an interaction where one of the women says that she thought he husband may have been disappointed when he found out they were having a girl. All of this was in just the 40 pages I read. Maybe some people don't have an issue with this but it just don't not reflect me and I can't enjoy it.… (altro)

Gabby may have changed her name to Brie and Cross became Christoff but they will always be Gabby and Cross. As Gabby says "It has always been you"

Every time they got together, it was HOT 🔥 and Sweet 💞 at the same time. Every good fairy tale starts out messy.

So glad to have discovered you. I plan to check out more of your books. I was swept away by Gabby/Brie and Cross/Christoff's story. The alternating chapters from past to present was seamless. The story was told from the two main characters' POV. Which helped to make their more present and for me to grow close to them. I could hear their voices in my head while reading this book.

It was nice to have both books combined into this one edition. This way I could continue Gabby/Brie and Cross/Christoff's story without interruption.… (altro)
