The story starts a bit dark. Rosabel is my vested interested at the moment. I know it is Keilah’s story, but would she have one if it weren’t for Rosabel providing her with the freedom to be herself? There is an interesting juxtaposition between how Keilah’s family and Rosabel’s family live. I can see the parallel between Dee’s life and Keilah, even though they are generations apart. The author again shows how Keilah’s past and present run parallel. I get the feeling Keilah in her present-day life is trying to take on the role of Rosabel as an homage to her pure heart. Rosabel has scars, Keilah and Kenner have scars, and Dee has scars from the lack of empathy and attention given by their parentage. It seems like everybody’s parents in this story participate in some form of neglect with their children. The story is complex, engaging, and reflective.… (altro)
