This is a decent book on de Valera. There is little new subject matter being analysed here but the book offers a condensed history of de Valera's life inside and outside of politics to a new audience in a readable language. Each chapter is well referenced with footnotes although there is an over-reliance on newspaper articles and comments from television documentaries to my liking. The bibliography is reasonably thorough although there are several notable absences. Overall it should encourage readers to gain a foothold of interest in de Valera and if they do so provide them with other books to develop that interest further.… (altro)
