Wonderful popularly-written treatment of the theological perspective of the English Reformers by an Australian Anglican scholar, showing that the origins of the Church of England were thoroughly Reformed and Catholic in nature. Hughes explores the writings of both the original Reformers (Barnes, Bilney, Cranmer, Ridley, and Hooper) as well as the later theologians under the Elizabethan Settlement (Parker, Grindal, and Whitgift), quoting from them all liberally and tracing the contours of their thought. Indispensable.
