Latina's helping around the inn has officially transitioned into child labor as she begins earning wages. I know I should be troubled by this to some degree, but Latina is just so cute when she is earnestly and diligently working, especially since she is doing it to afford a present for her guardian.

After the drama of last volume, the action is scaled back 99% as we deal with birthdays, banks and preparations for a journey. Dull + adorable = adullable?

I continue to be annoyed by the side stories plopped at the end. For the second time, the comic is just an adaptation of the previous volume's text story. What's the point of that? Especially since the comic version is so much better than the awkwardly written prose tales. The text pieces are increasingly a waste of space in an already slim book.… (altro)

Latina deals with separation anxiety as Dale leaves her in the hands of the innkeepers as he heads off on a mission (which is told in a few brief scenes, mostly in montage, but reveals Dale's importance, power and violent nature). To pass the time more quickly, Latina learns to cook, and the scenes of the inn's regular customers dealing with the results is priceless. The second part of the book has Dale teaching Latina some magic. Low-key, but super cute.

The last two sides stories in the volume -- one a comic, the other a text piece -- are rather clumsy, being repetitive and overlapping strangely, as they try to illustrate how Latina's cuteness is causing a surge in the adventuring industry.… (altro)

Oh, dear, I've been tricked into reading the manga adaptation of a Japanese light novel series. But the little demon girl at the center of the book, Latina, is so adorable and her adoptive human father, Dale, is so doting that my stay-at-home-dad heart just melted.

This is a pretty low-key fantasy series with the big adventures in this volume being learning to read and getting lost during a shopping trip to the medieval mall. But Latina's personality, earnest but quick to cheerfulness, just lights up everything.

Does the library have more volumes? Three? Hold-hold-hold!!!… (altro)
