Hilfiger put more emphasis on chronicling her career than her Lyme disease. Though it is woven throughout the entire book, the specifics are glazed over. She mentioned only a few symptoms and repeated them over and over; the same is true of her various treatments. She just didn't include enough details to assist a reader looking to learn a lot more about Lyme disease.

She stated that she didn't mean to name-drop, yet did so incessantly; she repeatedly yammered about listening to classic rock bands and smoking pot; and she had some very "interesting" spiritual beliefs that she formed by cherry-picking from various religions/traditions.

Like many other memoirs, it was worth reading only because it is Hilfiger's story, and a way to gain perspective and compassion for others.

This book could have used some better editing, but I will gladly cut the author some slack--she's been through enough (and will likely go through more). Anything that promotes awareness of weird, hard-to-diagnose autoimmune diseases is fine by me, though this had way less science/health info in it than I thought it would.… (altro)
