Ross Higgins, teacher in the sexuality and anthropology programmes of Concordia University, Montreal, and involved in the city's gay movement, writes about Flisch's life and work from his teens in pre-war Germany and his subsequent move to Canada. The text is annotated and there is an index.

Following Higgin's text the plates start at page 53 and run through to page 167, all are in colour including the monochrome pen and ink, pastel and similar works. In addition the text is illustrated with photographs of the artist and his work. In total the book contains around 140 illustrations.

Flinsch's work is nothing short of beautiful, his drawings and paintings of young men, mostly nude or nearly so, are provocative, graphic, economic, sensitive and sensual, often erotic and occasionally with a touch of humour.
