Kerry Heubeck

The black and white photographs in this collection were taken by Kerry Huebeck, an American who served in Viet Nam between 1968 and 1971; he returned after the war and lived there with his family for 15 months. It’s a respectful and touching book. Huebeck says in the prologue that he understands he was “an intruder, an outsider”, and that having come to teach, he “left, having learned”. The pictures of children and old people are particularly striking.
