This was a rare treat. Literary thriller-mystery-true crime-suspense all in one. Character-driven and dark but also has peaceful touching moments as well. A different type of suspense that features a character with breast cancer and details tough pieces of her very real journey. This was a super engaging and thought-provoking story that went far beyond the typical detective thriller.

The Night Flowers by Sara Herchenroether is a fabulous debut. The book deals with a bit of everything - ancestry research, DNA science, romance, illness, evil, subterfuge, disappointment, satisfaction, family trauma and most of all ghosts who help reveal their story.

Could not put it down!
