Lola Haskins is the author of twelve books of poetry and three of prose. Among her honors are the Iowa Poetry Prize, two Florida Book Awards, two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, several awards for narrative poetry, and the Emily Dickinson Prize from the Poetry Society of America. Such an interesting book. Tales of cemeteries in Florida, including the author's interpretation of historic events. Stories about gravestones and cemetery lore were fascinating. Fun read!

Fifteen Florida Cemeteries: Strange Tales Unearthed di Lola Haskins

This book is fabulous! I love the way Haskins writes. First she profiles the area & the history of each cemetery's town/area, which is quite interesting in itself, then she spotlights one resident of each cemetery's life. I saw this book first on a list of books new to my local library, & immediately reserved it :) Since I live in Florida, I am familiar with several of the areas she chose to highlight in her book, & have heard at least ONE of these stories, the one at the end, of Count Von Cosel & Elena down in Key West.

I am looking forward to exploring several of the cemeteries that are profiled, & that are in a pretty close proximity to me!… (altro)
