Unfortunately, the only thing that I really liked about this was the art. It was really great and fit the story very well. It managed to be both cute and creepy.

There was a certain potential regarding the factory and the magical part of the story, but we don't really learn much. There are no answers, no further exploration after we get some small reveals. Still, it made for a very interesting setting. If there would come a sequel that would focus on the factory, I would definitely pick it up.

What we get is an unoriginal story with predictable plot twists. Maybe we didn't see this exact story, but I certainly saw all those parts somewhere. There is some implied character development, but I don't really see where that happened. There were also some confusing parts where the panels didn't seem to fit that well after each other. Like something got skipped.

In retrospect, it almost felt like a summary. You got the plot points, but there was no time given to make the scenes impactful. There were a lot of side storylines or even the villain storyline that needed way more background to really work. To make me feel something. I mostly cared only about the MC and even for her, I think we could have gotten more.

If you don't expect much, I think it’s still something other people might enjoy more than I did. And even if you don’t, at least you get to enjoy the art.
I give it 2,5* because it was more of an "ok" story for me.… (altro)

I read this book and the whole time kept thinking about how I really want to play a video game version of it. Especially the exploring the factory and the finals fights.

The illustrations in this book were incredible, visually it was stunning. I think that the setting and the tale were pretty original and as the story continued I was surprised at many of the plots developments. The characters were well developed. The ending makes me want to brush up on my French to read the next part.

My only critique is that the last 20 pages or so felt a little rushed. I read a lot of graphic novels so I was able to fill in the blanks as to how the sequence jumped around, but it could make it harder for some readers to fully understand.… (altro)

Eigyr is a graphic novel about Britain during the 5th century after the Romans have with drawn when the island was in upheaval and the Britons, Saxons, and Christians fought for control. One child could determine the outcome, if only they can make it to safety.

With graphic novels I always want to see if the story and art are better for being attached. In the case of this graphic novel both can stand on their own, and do work together well, but neither needed the other. The story on it's own is impactful and I wish we could have delved deeper into each of the characters backgrounds and thoughts during the story. I left wanting more of the story, to find out what would happen next between them and in this world. The art did a good job of showing the characters emotions and the world they were in, but didn't shine as anything deeply unique. The best feature of the art work was how it showcased the different factions and their native art styles.

Over all I enjoyed this read and loved seeing a different take on this time period and the Arthurian Legends. Seeing these legends from the more historical accurate direction and from the perspective of peasants, monks, and those not wrapped up with the kings and courts, was a real pleasure. It felt like going back to the roots of these legends being told by villagers gathered around a campfire sharing the myths and legends of their homes.

Overall this was a good read, that was a new perspective on an old legend.
