In this Pride and Prejudice variation Elizabeth Bennet is secretly betrothed to Wickham!. I was not sure before I read the book whether I would find this action believable but the writing propelled me through the story.
Can Darcy win the hand of Lizzy as they meet at Rosings and Brighton?
I do not give any book on the first read 5 stars, but I believe this is one of the books that once I have read again I will change to 5.

In this Pride and Prejudice variation, several days after the Hunsford proposal Elizabeth learns that their father has died. After six months of mourning Darcy proposes marriage again with a financial arrangement that the family can stay in Longbourn.
Can Elizabeth overcome her feelings to accept this and for this marriage to survive.

When Lady Catherine de Bourgh visits Longbourn and does not get the answer she requires from Elizabeth Bennet she informs her that her marriage is forbidden because Elizabeth and Darcy are brother and sister.
So starts the quest to confirm this information or find the truth.
An enjoyable tale, torturing both Darcy and Elizabeth.

A Pride and Prejudice variation where just after the Netherfield Ball Elizabeth is travelling to London with Darcy, Caroline Bingley and Mrs Hurst, when they are held up by highwaymen. Then Darcy and Elizabeth are kidnapped and to save her reputation Darcy declares that they are married, and now they have to rely on each other to survive.
This is the second book of Jan's I have read and I have loved them both.
