Disclaimer: This book was one of many I read as a judge for the 2015 Aurealis Awards. This review is my personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of any judging panel, the judging coordinator or the Aurealis Awards management team.

Quick summary: this is the kind of stories I want to read more of. And yes, relevant to my interests. And it was nice to see a mix of F/F and F/M relationships. I only put it down when I had to.

Sadly, I apparently made no specific notes on stories.

The first thing I noticed when scanning through the contributors was the number of familiar names. The second was how many of them are women, and it's wonderful. Often you have to read 'best by women' anthologies to get this sort of representation so it's awesome to see it in a by merit 'best' anthology.
The stories are extremely varied, most wonderfully weird. A couple of them I just didn't 'get' because they were leaning too much towards experimental writing but it's a strong collection. It's always great to read Australian works but this really is a world-class anthology.

Paranormal romance. The stories are very predictable, with bland protagonists (Cursebreaker: the Welsh Widow and the Wandering Wooer by Kyla Ward is an exception, despite the clumsy title). If you really like paranormal romances, this might be worth a look.½
