Jimmy Katz, his cat Maddy, and his African parrot Guppy have accommodations at Mrs. Potts’ boarding house in Twinkle, Texas. As Jimmy was not feeling well, Mrs. Potts advised him to go to Bill Hill’s Wellness Center, where he was guaranteed to receive the right combination of vitamins and advice to recover as quickly as possible. No one could have imagined the investigation that would result in the days to come, least of all that federal agents would be in town and the extraordinary undertaking as volunteers pull together to ensure everyone’s safety.

I love Guppy and Maddy and how endearing Jimmy is to everyone, especially ensuring the best care is given to his pets. Cozy mystery fun is abundant in the combination of Guppy’s squawks and talented Maddy, a whiz with a pencil on a keyboard when it’s time to notify Jimmy that he’s urgently needed at home.

The red herrings kept me guessing during the investigation, and I never suspected the reveal.

Reporter Jimmy Katz and his African parrot, Guppy, are moving from Houston to Twinkle. Employment will be at Twinkle Independent News, and living accommodations will be at Mrs. Potts' boarding house. Jimmy and Guppy knew their lives would change, but Mrs. Potts and all the residents of Twinkle never imagined that the newest arrival would change all their lives too.

Oh, my goodness! How many synonyms exist in the thesaurus for charming and irresistible? The cute and delightful cover design captured my attention on the author's website, and I knew I had to read "Katz' Cat." A man, a parrot, and a cat. I wanted to meet this animal lover and learn how they came together. The 1st sentence further confirmed the taste of Jimmy Katz as we drive the same type of vehicle, even the same color if not the same shade – a late model blue Honda CR-V. The cute scene break design adds to the cozy's enchantment. There's cozy mystery fun in every chapter!

I loved this cozy! The inheritance twist that led to an investigation differs from the usual cozy crime, which is appealing and well-plotted. Character favorites are abundant with easygoing and caring Jimmy, alert and sassy talker Guppy, sweet and clever Maddy, and lovely and thoughtful Mrs. Potts leading the list—humans, a feathered friend, and a feline you wish you could spend time with in person.
