Raised to be a hard-fighting Cossack, Tamiroff is the leader of a gang of cattle thieves. Tamiroff is joined by his 21-year-old son, Erickson, sent to him by his ex-wife. “Like father, like son,” goes the old saying, and it certainly applies to Erickson, for he is just as aggressive and manly as his father. The two try to outdo each other in various feats, and mutual admiration and respect soon blossom. But the law catches up with Tamiroff, and he is sent off to Leavenworth. Erickson joins a cavalry unit and plots to help his father escape. The escape works, but a moral crisis arises for the son when his unit must search for the escapees. He leads the search party and finally catches up with his father. Explaining that his loyalty to the troops must come first, Erickson attempts to arrest his father. (fonte: Imdb)

This merry musical biography of “Banjo Eyes” will gladden the hearts of Cantor and musical fans alike. It’s got fabulous songs, assured direction by Alfred E. Green (The Jolson Story) and elaborate numbers typical of the Ziegfeld stage.

Keefe Brasselle plays the energetic kid from the East Side in this decades-spanning saga of the showman’s rise from singing waiter to vaudeville sensation and Ziegfeld Follies headliner, from pioneering radio days to his lifelong devotion to humanitarian causes. Cantor himself sings on the soundtrack, performing Makin’ Whoopee, If You Knew Susie, Margie, Ida, Ma, He’s Making Eyes at Me and other signature tunes. He and wife Ida make a charming cameo appearance in this musical that will surely touch hearts and lift spirits all over. (fonte: imdb)

Biopic of the famed British Prime Minister focusing on his concern about Russia’s growing interest in the Indian subcontinent and his attempts to buy the Suez Canal. He sees the Canal as the key strategic resource in maintaining the Empire in the East but is unpopular in many quarters. With antisemitism rife at the time, Disraeli finds little support for his plan to purchase the canal or his foreign policy in general. There is no doubt that the Russians are plotting against British interests and he is surrounded by spies, even in his office at 10 Downing St. When the Bank of England refuses to finance the purchase of the available shares he turns to private sources to raise the available cash only to find the conspirators one step ahead of him.
