A retelling of the classic tale about a young girl in a red cloak who meets a hungry wolf when traveling through the forest on her way to see her grandmother.

This version is relatively non-violent, with the wolf swallowing grandma in one gulp, and later the woodcutter picking up the wolf to shake grandma and red riding hood out - no axes mentioned, though it does talk about sharp teeth.

This book is a traditional literature book. I would suggest this for 2nd and 3rd graders. It is a very simple book but it has some parts that are intended for a little bit of an older audience.

This was a similar take on other traditional Little Red Riding Hood stories. This book was about a little girl who traveled through the forrest to visit her sick grandma. On her way she came across a wolf. The wolf talked to her and was on his way. When she arrived to her grandmas house she noticed that a few things were off about her grandma. As she was taking to her grandma (who was actually the wolf) the wolf jumped up and gulped little read riding hood into his belly. When the logger outside heard the scream, she ran in and shook the wolf until little read riding hood and grandma came back our of his belly. The wolf was so embarrassed, he ran off and was never seen again.

I think is book is cute, but I do believe there are better takes on the story. I do not think that I would read this book to a classroom of students because the wold eats the grandma and little red riding hood and I think that thats too inappropriate for a class read aloud. I do believe that I could find other red riding hood stories that are more appropriate for the classroom. I might use one of these for a story time.

I find this book to be a great and captivating book for children. The story line is fantastic and a classic story! The characters in the story will intrigue children and the wolf adds an impact of suspense in the book.

This book is a classic fairy tale that a lot of students have either read or heard of before coming to school. I think this would make a great mentor text in either first or second grade. A perfect way to incorporate this text in the lessons would be being able to talk about how important of the "nice guy" and the "bad guy". A lesson that could be created from this short story could be having students work with partners and create their own story that there is a good guy and a bad guy and have them work through the writing process. I gave this story five stars because It is a wonderful book that I have loved since I was a little girl.

Little Red Riding Hood is a classic folk tale about a young girl who runs into a wolf while she's walking to grandma's house. Little does she know that this wolf is wicked and has bad intentions. This children's book is great for readers to find the problem and solution and other story elements within the book. It is also full of suspense and will have your readers ask questions along the way. Highly recommended!

I loved the illustrations in this version of the classic tale, Little Red Riding Hood. I think children would love the pictures and could follow the story pretty well just by listening and looking at the pictures. Children will learn through reading this book that they should not talk to strangers! The book exemplifies what can happen if you talk to strangers in the most subtle way possible. The real world is a scary place and this book shows you a lighter side to how scary it really can be. The story is scary but nothing a child cant handle. This book especially strays away from the violence and gore of the original story so children can appeal to it more. I would recommend to a family to read to their child.

This classic fairy tale provides a strong moral lesson, never talk to strangers. The main character Little Red Riding Hood is tasked with taking a basket of food to her grandma who is feeling unwell. She shows bravery by completing this task alone. Her mother gives her a map, wishes her a safe trip, and warns her not to speak to strangers. Soon after Red enters the forest, a wolf begins to follow her and talk to her. After, talking to the wolf, he hurries off to find her grandma's cabin first so he can set up a trap.
The wolf eats the grandma and later Red when she finally makes it to the cabin. Here, we see a direct consequence of talking to stranger, enforcing the moral of the story. Eventually, both the grandma and Red are rescued, and at the end, repeating the theme, Red would never talk to strangers ever again.

I would use this book as a read-aloud for first or second graders to discuss the importance of having many roles as characters, including a protagonist and an antagonist. In the book "Little Red Riding Hood" there are a couple of protagonists, including Little Red Riding Hood herself, but there was only one antagonist which was the bad wolf. With this, I would have the students work in small groups to create posters of major character roles that can be found in books and see if they can come up with their own examples from their own reading experiences to fill each role.

Little Red Ridding Hood is a book about a little girl who has to take a basket of goodies to her grandmother. On her way she meets a wolf who directs her to a longer route just to beat her to her grandmothers house so he can eat her. This wolf is so convinced that he is eating her that he dresses like her grandmother to fool her. Thankfully the huntsman saves Little Red Ridding Hood. This is a classic stories that teaches kids to not talk to strangers. I really liked the illustrations because they were so colorful. This would be a great read aloud book to a first grader.

Summary: Little Red Riding Hood is about a very young girl that is running an errand for her mom which is to give her Grandma a basket. A wold tries and tries to trick her but Little Red Riding Hood just keeps on going. The wolf goes to grandma's house and pretends to be her. Little Red Riding Hood does not notice that this is the wold. Soon she is in trouble and the Huntsman comes to save the day.

Personal Reaction: I did not read this book much as a child, but I remember always wanting to know if there was a sequel because I wanted to see more adventures and I felt that the story was incomplete.

Classroom Extension: I think I would have the children talk with me about what they thought about Little Red Riding hood.

The classic story of Little Red Riding Hood is about a little girl who is sent by her mother to deliver a basket of goodies to her grandmother. Along the way, a wolf spots her and tries to lure her into his trap, but she keeps on her way. The wolf plots on how he could trick her and so he rushes to her grandma's house where he then pretends to be her. Little Red is oblivious to the wolf's deceit and soon, she is needing rescue. In swoops the huntsman who rescues her from the wolf.

As a child and as an adult, I think I speak for a majority of us who were angry at Little Red for being so careless and naive. She was in danger the entire time and she was not aware of this. Had the huntsman not been there to help her, she would be doomed. Looking at this from a sensible mind can be frustrating, but to a little child such as herself, she was not too aware of the dangers and so she continued on without a worry in the world.

In a classroom, this book would be a very good example to teach children not to talk to strangers when they are wondering by themselves. It is a concern that should be addressed. This is also a very good book to teach the children to be aware of their surroundings and to be careful because at any moment, even a once friendly face can change.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I liked this book for the characters and the plot. I liked how determined and naive the characters were in Little Red Riding Hood. The wolf in the story was so determined to eat Little Red Riding Hood that after following her through the woods, he dressed up as her grandmother and pretended to be the grandmother to lure Little Red closer so that he could try to eat her. Likewise, Little Red was so naive when she arrived as Grandmother's house when she was asking why various features were different, when in reality, it was actually the wolf. I also really liked the traditional fairytale plot of this book. There was an evil: the wolf, the main character whom is innocent and needs protecting: Little Red, and the hero: the huntsman. The hero saves the innocent main character by stopping the evil character, and they all live happily ever after. The message of this story is to not talk to strangers.

I loved reading this cute version of “Little Red Riding Hood.” I loved the bright and simple pictures in this story because they were appealing to the eye, without being too detailed. I liked the shortened version of this story, because while it still included the major details, it mostly stuck to those! I’ve read lengthy versions of this story before, and I find this one to be one of my favorites because of the simple and almost “friendly” version of the story- as it is not too scary for the younger readers, but also hits all the main points, such as Little Red Riding Hood delivering cookies to her grandmothers house, and meeting the Big Bad Wolf along the way. The message of this story is not to talk to or trust strangers! The message is also another reason why I love this book; it tells an important moral through a fun and interesting story, while also being suspenseful!
