Jan Spivey Gilchrist

Like some of the other books, my favorite part about this book is the illustrations, they are so vivid and colorful. Poetry is not something that I usually find myself interested in but, wow! The simplicity, but importance of the story is unreal. This book shows the diversity and beauty of the Americas with so few words. I read through this book multiple times, a few times admiring the pictures and taking it all it. Sometimes, reading the words, loving them, and thinking about their meaning. Loved this!… (altro)

America is a and for ALL people, and this book reinforces that message. In poetry style, Gilchrist asks the question: “Have you seen my America?” America is mighty and beautiful, not just our lands, but our people too. We have such a diverse country, and it is beautiful! America is made up of many different people; we are in unity, and that is beautiful.

The illustrations in this book were colorful. The pictures had realistic features, but also had a whimsical feel to them. People of all different ethnicities were depicted in the pictures.… (altro)
