I loved this one! Such a quick and easy read, I love the way the author writes. Scary and spicy! I will definitely be reading the other ones.

Read as part of the Shh... Male Authors in Erotica event.

Copy provided by C.C. Genovese in exchange for an honest review.

Mandy is single and she's got the 5 month itch, that single and need someone to enjoy in the bedroom itch. When her roommate and her boyfriend set her up on a blind date with Braden, Mandy expects little more than make a quick one night stand after the carnival...what she gets is so much more.

I'd forgotten about the attendant, who had turned away from us, giggling through his chipped teeth, pretending he wasn't watching us out of the corner of his eye.

  • "If you want a chance at putting this inside me, throw the ball."

My first reaction as I was reading was, "this is a little silly," but as I kept reading I found myself totally hooked in the fantasy. Not only is Mandy easy to relate to, come on we've all been there, but C.C. does an excellent job of building up the anticipation and I found myself reacting just as she did in the book. Mandy's personal thoughts were some of the funniest I have ever read from a character. The general story is hot and sexy and super kinky, trust me, I will never see a carnival from the same perspective again. Between Mandy's sexual drought and Braden's kinky game the chemistry in this book is on fire. From slides to mirrors and of course the Ferris wheel, Mandy and Braden turn the carnival into their own playground.

Braden was a master at verbal and sexual swordplay. He'd strike and then back off with the fluidity of a graceful dancer.

C.C. Genovese's writing style in Kinky Carnival Games is fresh and unique, I felt like I was glimpsing a real life moment in a girl's life. While the novella is very short, the characters were well developed and nothing felt forced. This one night stand is the sexiest I have read in...well ever! I absolutely will be reading more from C.C. Genovese and I recommend his Maybe Mandy series to readers looking for a delicious, sinful treat.

Darkness of Man is based on an interesting premise. When a human finally has a truly dark urge for violence, the urge creates an image copy of the person in a mirror world. Occasionally, the two worlds meet when the person views his image and each is transported to the other's world.
Gabe finds out that Allie, his girlfriend, is creating on him with his boss. The desire to do her violence transports him through the mirror and allows Cutter, his image, to escape that dark world and wreak havoc in the 'real' world. Meanwhile, Lisa, Gabe's shy friend at the office, has her own transfer with Ivy, her alter ego. Lisa has always had a crush on Gabe, but it isn't until they're locked in this dark world together and struggling to return to their real world that Gabe realizes Lisa's worth.
Gabe's arrival has been foreordained as the Haissem and he gathers a crew of interesting people and images to support him in his quest. I enjoyed these side characters almost as much as the main characters. Nothing is black or white and even the worst characters have good points. There are also many dangers in this alternate world which move the story right along.
This was an interesting concept and way to visualize the struggle between good and evil. The writing is good, but be warned: the story is raw with both graphic sex and violence. It is an engrossing read, dark fantasy at its finest. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
