The set of DVDs provide an anthology of the filmed songs (or music videos) and some of the definitive interviews (filmed between 1965 and 1982) of Gainsbourg; including duets with Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, France Gall, Anna Karina, Catherine Deneuve, Philippe Clay, Eddy Mitchell and his own daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg, and a trio with Jane Birkin and Jacques Dutronc
Approximately 280 minutes of music and footage (spanning two DVDs), presented decade by decade and providing a fair impression of the artist's work as his style moved from one form to the next covering the smooth crooning of the late 50s, through the ye-ye, ballads and jazz periods into psychedelia, rock and even reggae. Gainsbourg covered every style of music, and his songs were frequently without boundaries, challenging social conventions and often moral acceptance. He lived his life without apology or regret and that was part of his charm. There will never, nor can there ever be another Serge Gainsbourg.
This is probably the best DVD boxed set I have ever purchased. It has certainly had the most airplay in my household.… (altro)
