A longtime Pooh fan takes a turn at writing his own Hundred-Acre Wood tale now that the characters are in the public domain. It's a simple tale of jealousy and despair as Piglet feels he is being replaced as Pooh's best friend when a horse named Braxton appears on the scene and seems to have a lot in common with Pooh -- mostly because his personality consists only of loving honey and being nice.

It's all good intentions and gentle lessons but lacks any of A. A. Milne's wordplay and any adornment à la E. H. Shepard. It would have been better if Braxton had at least one distinct personality hook like all the rest of the gang and if we were given more of an idea what he looked like. Does he tower over the rest like a real horse or is he more along the scale of Eeyore?

It's a quick read at nine pages, but only costs a buck on Amazon.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:
