This is a very tough leg workout that really fatigues every muscle in the legs (including calves!). I like being challenged in a strength workout, and the Gym Style series, especially this one, challenges me a lot. Cathe Friedrich uses the moves that are proven to be effective, and changes them up a little by changing how long each move is held (such as in slow-pulse lunges, which are extremely difficult for me).

This is a workout for me to work up to - doing it all at once is basically impossible for me now because of how hard it gets my heart pumping. There are a lot of jumping-based moves that don't quit for the entire hour. Since there are many different sections (step, floor work, high- and low-imact Hiit, bonus bootcamp section), they can easily be added individually to different workouts - for example, I've added the low-impact hiit section to another of my easier cardio workouts.

HiiT training involves anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds of very hard effort alternated with 30 to 60 seconds of recovery effort, and those two intervals are repeated to make up a 20 to 30 minute workout, usually. I prefer doing long, low-impact workouts such as hour long power walks to doing short, intense workouts, but that is harder to do in the winter, and I wanted to add some variety to my cardio workouts.… (altro)

This is an advanced step workout by Step Aerobics expert Cathe Friedrich. Many of Cathe's step videos are high impact (which means there is a lot of jumping involved), so having this one be low impact (in which at least one foot is on the ground at all times) is a good option for people seeking low-impact cardio exercise. Having said that, it is still very challenging despite being low impact. I have yet to master this one, as the choreography is more advanced than I am used to.

This is a good way to become acquainted with step aerobics. Cathe Friedrich has many step routines that are very advanced, and using this one familiarizes the viewer with how she teaches and what some of her main steps are. I like Cathe's personality - she isn't overly-chatty, she is motivating without being annoying, she wears enough clothing for my tastes (e.g. pants and a tank top), and just wants to get to work.
