I spent a lot of time reading the text and looking at the pictures in this book when I was in college, and even more time following up on the various artists and artistic movements it describes.
New York City has long been a center for artistic innovation, and the 1980s were a time when art, music, and literature really came together to form a cohesive "scene". As is often the case, some artists become famous and sought after where others are left behind. Drug use and AIDS also led to the deaths of many of the artists discussed in this book. Courtesy of the market, and of books such as this one, their art lives on.… (altro)

"La Fabrique" is the extension of Tania Mouraud's viedographic work but it is also the creation of a new open space. Indeed, "La Fabrique" completes a polyptych of videos by introducing for the first time the human figure into a place of fabricaiton.
