Johann Reinhold Forster (1729–1798)

Johann Reinhold Forster (1729 – 1798) was a Calvinist pastor and naturalist who contributed to ornithology of Europe and North America. He is best known for bringing his equally brilliant son Georg along as the naturalists on James Cook's second Pacific voyage. These expeditions promoted the career of Johann Reinhold Forster and the findings became the bedrock of colonial professionalism and helped set the stage for the future development of anthropology and ethnology.
