I'm a big fan of picture books where someone gets eaten. I'm also a big fan of picture books with monsters with silly names. This one is excellent on both counts!

A lot of fun to read with my son. He is really good at making the story sound dramatic.

A fun tale of siblings facing the nastiest of beasts and coming through. The detailed and amusing illustrations really add to the story. A great book for teaching sequencing a story.

Now THIS is how you do a book about kids getting eaten: whole, in a gulp with their colouring book to play with inside till their sister rescues them, and then the monster who ate you gets eaten too (and that monster too, etc.) and I assume all get colouring books as well.

This book tells that when Louis was eaten by Gulper, his sister Sarah tried to save Louis. However, there is a food chain, bigger monster ate smaller one. Finally, Sarah use a Hiccup frog to save her brother, and go back home. I would like to use this book in my teaching, because this book use many different words to describe different actions, and the theme of this book is very good. This book is good for 2nd and 3th readers to read.

This book is a predictable book that is a spin off of There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. In the story, a crazy fictional monster eats the narrator’s brother. As the story continues, a bigger monster eats each monster. At the end, the narrator, Sarah, has to bravely climb into the monster to save her brother. Since this is a predictable book, it is easy for the kids to follow along and pick up on the repetition. For example, Sarah uses “unfortunately…” right before a big monster eats a smaller one. I think this would make a great read aloud in the classroom because it keeps the children’s attention with the help of cliff hangers. The illustrations are also very detailed and very fun. I think the fact that the monsters are not too terrifyingly drawn helps the vibe of the story remain playful and adventurous rather than scary and sad. If I used this in the classroom I would probably just use it for a free read or for the sake of entertainment, outside of it being a predictable book and teaching reading techniques, because I’m a strong believer in reading for fun and not having a lesson tied to every single thing we read.

THE DAY LOUIS GOT EATEN is about a brother and sister who go on an adventure in the woods, and Louis gets eaten by a big animal which isn’t a real animal, and then the animal that ate Louis was eaten by another animal which isn’t real, and the list goes on for another four animals. By the end of the story, Louis’ sister makes her way into the stomach of the animal which eat Louis, and they made their way out of the stomachs. Both siblings were heroic in this story, and showed each other the love they had for one another. This story has unrealistic characters, but the details in the illustrations are very interesting, and fun to look at. One reason to be interested in this story is to see the funny characters and how they react to the siblings at the end of the story. Something to take away from this story is the way the two siblings work together to save one another when they’re in a time of need. Although this is a silly time of need, they are still willing to help each other and show their love.

This book is a spin off of the book, "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly." The narrator, Sarah's, brother Louis got eaten by an absurd monster. From there the monsters continue to get eaten by bigger monsters. At the end of the story Sarah must be brave and climb inside of the monsters to retrieve her brother. They eventually got out of the monsters by a magic hiccup frog, used to cause the monsters to regurgitate. I would classify this book as a predictable book. This is because each time the Sarah uses the word, "Unfortunately," right before the bigger creature eats the smaller.½

A tasty treat with an entertaining spin on "there was an old lady who swallowed..." Great for reading aloud.

PSC Review: When Lois gets eater by a Gulper, his sister didn’t panic because she knew Gulpers swallow their food whole, but it got only worse because the Gulper was eaten by a Grabulator. This silly food chain story just gets worse and worse as each animal that eats the smaller animal gets swallowed by a Saber-toothed Yumper. When its asleep Sarah enters its mouth to save her brother with Hiccup Frog. Filled with unique animals the story ends with successful. Louis’ day is topped off by his saving his sister from being eaten. After all brothers and sisters take care of each other

Main characters is a mixed group
suggest late primary, maily boys
This is an adventire story, it has all the halmarks - the children rushing to the rescue of the adults, and they are the ones to incover the important facts in the nick of time - and are able to get people to help them.
excitment and action all the way through. the text can seem a little bear of description at times , but then I am an adult not a preteen

This is an adventure, in the best description of it. we have the mad professors which are both the good guys and the bad guy. I loved the concept of the ISNT which provided the transport from edinburgh to the far north. We had children who were not taotally reliant on the adults, they operated without them - yet one of them kept trying to phone home so his parents wouldnt worry (the others had been kidnaped)
One of the subplots involved a girl who's parents were trying to change her into the ideal that they wanted (bright and sporty) while she liked to hang about and play football. It was good at the end where the parents were seen to be in the wrong and she was fine as she was. a good posative message that was concealed within the general story line without distractng from it.
A good traditional childrents adventure, they did save the day (though the adults had to help in the end

This book demonstrates why cell phones, the internet, play stations and television have proved victorious in the battle for the hearts and minds of young people.

It’s actually quite a sweet story about a group of friends who band together to bring down an evil international organisation by means of pluck, ingenuity, and a modicum of adult assistance.

After just one lesson, young Ben can pilot an aeroplane, and with the aid of nothing more than a small scale world map, flies everyone from Scotland to Geneva. The Famous Five may have got away with this level of improbability but, unless the hero is Harry Potter, today’s youngsters expect better
