The New Zork Times (later changed to The Status Line due to the lack of humor displayed by The New York Times) was the official newsletter of Infocom. The New Zork Times was launched by Mike Dornbrook, who ran the Infocom merchandizing department that eventually became its own company, the Zork Users Group.

This six-page issue of The New Zork Times announces, among other things, the shuttering of the Zork Users Group due to founder Mike Dornbrook becoming production manager for Infocom. Also announced in this issue is the second Infocom mystery title - Witness - with the rest of the page count dedicated to fan and press praise and industry news, and a listing of all the pins, shirts, and posters that would no longer be available from Zork Users Group (InvisiClues would be picked up and continued officially by Infocom).… (altro)

This is the second issue of The New Zork Times (later changed to The Status Line due to the lack of humor displayed by The New York Times), the official newsletter of Infocom. The New Zork Times was launched by Mike Dornbrook, who ran the Infocom merchandizing department that eventually became its own company, the Zork Users Group.

This double-sided issue of the newsletter uses the front page to announce two new Infocom games, Zork III and Starcross (Infocom's first Science Fiction title), new InvisiClues for Zork II, and the inclusion of two new computer systems compatible with Infocom games, NEC APC (CPM-86) and Commodore 64 (my system at the time). This is the first issue of The New Zork Times (later changed to The Status Line due to the lack of humor displayed by The New York Times), the official newsletter of Infocom. The New Zork Times was launched by Mike Dornbrook, who ran the Infocom merchandizing department that eventually became its own company, the Zork Users Group.

This first single-page issue of the newsletter focused namely on the introduction of the InvisiClues gaming guides that utilized invisible ink and magic pen to reveal hints, discounts and special offers, and an announcement of the upcoming Infocom game Deadline.

Later issues would eventually incorporate more humor and personality into the articles and layout as the page count expanded, becoming more than the basic advertising sheet that is this debut issue of what would become computer gaming history.
