As clichéd stories go, this one was enjoyable. The one thing I would have loved is that instead of insta-love the protagonists had had more time to get to know each other.
What I loved about this book, and the reason why it gets so high a rating is its handling of trauma and how people react to it. Axis is a tortured hero, he had an abusive childhood and he blames himself for everything bad that's going on. The way he's depicted is so realistic it actually made me tear up in more than one occasion.
I also want to address the sex scenes, there's some light bondage and dom/sub play and I frickin' loved it. The author never forgets to add tenderness and intimacy to each scene, they aren't portrayed as just gratuitous but they overall serve a purpose or show the characters' trust in each other.
Anyways, I just wanted to say I really liked this book.… (altro)
